Achieve Success

What is the Peer Tutor program?
The Peer Tutor program provides free support to students enrolled at Winnipeg Technical College.

What does the program offer me?
The program offers tutoring in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics and program specific content, up to a maximum of 7 hours.

I’m in class all day. When can I be tutored?
The program accommodates both high school students, as well as evening students with tutoring available 5 days per week following these time frames:
8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Appointments will depend on availability of tutors. Additional times can be discussed with the Coordinator of the Peer Tutor Program.

What if the times provided don’t accommodate my schedule?
We will try to accommodate each student depending on the availability of a peer tutor during the time requested.

Who do I contact if I need to cancel a Peer Tutor session?
You will need to contact the Coordinator of the Peer Tutor Program at least 24 hours prior to the session. Lates and/or absences to scheduled tutoring sessions may result in the removal of tutorial privileges.

Will somewhere quiet be available for tutoring?
Yes. The Coordinator of the Peer Tutor Program will show you where you can meet.

Who can I talk to about being tutored?
You can talk to your program instructor who, in turn, will make the request. The Coordinator of the Peer Tutor Program will then match the tutorial request with the appropriate tutor. An opportunity to meet with both the peer tutor and Coordinator of the Peer Tutor Program will be arranged prior to the first tutor session.

Who do I contact for further information?
Speak to your instructor about your inquiries. If he/she is unable to answer your questions, contact the Coordinator of the Peer Tutor Program at 989-6500.
