A typical lizard is four-legged, short bodied and long-tailed, though some of them can look like dragons while others can look like worms. All lizards shed their scaly skin, while most shed it in patches, some shed it in one piece like a snake does. Most lizards are small, only growing up to about 2 feet long, the smallest are some types of geckos and chameleons that grow to be only a few centimeters long.
Lizards are found basically everywhere except in the polar regions because they need to live in a warm protected place to survive.
